Debra Marquart, is author, poet and musician. A professor of English at Iowa State University, she teaches in the MFA program in Creative Writing & Environment at Iowa State as well as the Stonecoast Low-Residency MFA program at the University of Southern Maine. Marquart is being honored this year for her poetry collections: Everything’s a Verb and From Sweetness. |

Mildred Kalish, author of Little Heathens: Hard Times and High Spirits on an Iowa Farm During the Great Depression. Mildred is a retired professor of English who grew up in Garrison, Iowa, and taught at several colleges, including the University of Iowa, Adelphi University, and Suffolk County Community College. She now lives with her husband in northern California. She published her first book - Little Heathens at the age of 85. |
