While you're here, check out our separate children's and teen areas. In the children's area, kids can look through books, play with toys, use the Internet, and play computer games. Move over to the nearby teen area to check out our teen graphic novel section, watch movies on our flat screen TV, surf the web, or unwind with a book.
Parents can also find a place to relax in the adult reading room, complete with comfortable seating, a magazine and newspaper rack, and cozy gas fireplace.

The East Side Library was extensively renovated and expanded in 2006. The $3.2 million cost of the project was funded by a public/private partnership between the City of Des Moines and the Des Moines Public Library Foundation.
